PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has introduced charges for different police services that were free for the last many decades.
The charges for different services are upto Rs3,000. As per a notification of the Home Department, charges for commercial tenants registration and police clearance from abroad will be Rs3,000 while domestic tenant registration fee and police clearance for visa will be Rs2,000. Besides, the fee for verification for government jobs was fixed at Rs1,000. Domestic servants antecedents charges will be Rs500.
As much as 50 per cent share of the charges will go to the district police while 25 per cent each to regional police and government exchequer. Only registration of foreigners and lost and found reports will be free of cost.
Earlier, all these facilities were available to citizens free of charge from Police Lines and Police Assistance Lines. The former administrations had ordered completing the process for all these documents from three to seven days. As government and police officials said such charges were introduced in other provinces and countries, people have strongly opposed such a huge amount for the services that were totally free till the end of March.
