ISLAMABAD: The decision to issue arrest warrants for 20 PTI leaders who did not cooperate with the JIT in the investigation into negative social media propaganda has been taken.
It is reported that despite repeated summons by the JIT, headed by IG Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi, these leaders not only avoided appearing but also filed a writ petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the JIT summons.
The JIT was formed under Section 30 of the Peca Act 2016. It has decided to issue arrest warrants for 20 PTI leaders. These leaders did not appear before the JIT despite multiple notices.
Warrants will be issued for PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram, PTI Punjab President Hammad Azhar, Murad Saeed, Zulfi Bukhari, Aun Abbas, Mian Aslam, Firdous Shamim, Taimur Saleem, Jibran Ilyas, former chief minister Gilgit Khalid Khurshid, Shahbaz Gill, Azhar Mashwani and others.
The JIT had sent several notices to PTI leaders to appear before it. Notices were served at the residences of all these leaders. Seven leaders, including Barrister Gohar, Shibli Faraz, Aleema Khan and Roof Hassan, have appeared before the JIT.
