‘For the first time in Wasa Lahore’s history, development projects worth Rs102 billion have been launched. Underground drainage lines are being laid not only in narrow and underdeveloped streets but also in upscale areas. Contractors have been instructed to ensure 100pc safety measures during development work. The construction of 10 underground water tanks in the city’s low-lying areas will significantly help in resolving public issues. ‘All tanks, modeled after the one built near Gaddafi Stadium, were expected to be completed this year. The expansion of Wasa Lahore’s jurisdiction will not only provide better services to citizens but also increase revenue. In the coming year, work on the sewerage and water supply networks will commence in Aziz Bhatti, Allama Iqbal, and Wagah zones. ‘Improvement of the sewerage system from College Road to Hadyara Drain and the construction of drainage systems for communities near the Charrar Drain are also part of the plan,’ the minister said.
