Health screenings of 225,000 cops conducted: IGP

LAHORE:Inspector General Police (IGP), Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar Monday said Punjab Police is the only department where health screenings of 225,000 cops have been conducted.

Talking to reporters, the IGP said Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) have been signed with top hospitals to provide free and subsidised healthcare services to cops and their families. He said this year, over Rs 94.9 million has been spent on the treatment of cops and their families suffering from serious illnesses and more than Rs 70million has been allocated for the treatment of children with mental disabilities and other diseases. He said under ‘Hamaray Phool’ project, free cochlear implant surgeries have been performed on 34 children of cops. The IGP said Hepatitis B vaccinations are being provided to cops.

CCPO receives 3,083 complaints in 3 months

The complaint cell at the Capital City Police Office has received 3,083 applications this year. Police officers handled 2,745 pleas out of 3,083 and action is ongoing on the remaining. According to police spokesman, CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana emphasized that the Complaint Cell is continuously working to resolve public issues and ensure timely justice. He instructed cops to adopt an open-door policy to facilitate quick delivery of justice to the applicants. He also stressed prioritising applications from the elderly, disabled, minorities, and women.
