ISLAMABAD: The Political Committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has cautioned the party leaders to desist from raising ‘petty internal issues’ in the media and adopt the laid procedure for resolution of issues, if any.

The committee, which was to meet on Thursday, had to delay for a day, and it took party matters as well as the current political situation in the country and its future course of action in a meeting held on late Friday night.

“The Political Committee took strong exception to statements coming from different party leaders and desired that instead of highlighting things in the media, PTI platforms should be used,” said PTI Information Secretary Sh Waqas Akram, when The News contacted him on his mobile phone to get details of the meeting. He explained that the meeting strongly barred the party people from going to the media or feeding journalists the internal party matters to ‘settle scores’.

He said it was emphasized that difference of opinion was quite natural in the largest political party but the way adopted to seek their resolution was totally unjustifiable.

In reply to a question, he said the meeting made it clear that even if despite having been barred, anyone persisted with this trend, a show-cause could be issued and further action be taken against him.

Separately, Member of the National Assembly and ousted PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat on Saturday said Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur did not suddenly burst, the division in PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was already there. Speaking in a private TV channel programme, he said those responsible for the fight in PTI were those who were forcing people out. If nothing happens, more people in the party will speak after 15 days.

He disclosed that the party founder was not in favour of giving KP Assembly tickets to Asad Qaiser, Atif Khan and Shahram Tarakai for the last year’s general elections; Ali Amin Gandapur was right about the tickets for (former speaker NA) Asad Qaiser, Atif Khan and Shahram Tarakai; Asad Qaiser is not a conspirator.

Marwat, who was thrown out of the party recently for allegedly violating the party discipline, said the PTI founder confirmed the decision not to give tickets to the three in front of (Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and him (Marwat). “If Ali Amin Gandapur takes action, half of the former PTI cabinet will be in jail. It is possible that three to four ministers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be dismissed,” he went on to claim. He contended that the talk of getting Imran Khan released from jail was confined to the level of a press conference. He wondered who would tie the bell of the movement around the neck of a cat, as there are many conspiracies in the pipeline right now.

Marwat said that nothing was happening in the party and that only conspiracies were happening. “Ali Amin Gandapur is still being saved by the PTI founder,” he maintained.
