In separate incidents across Karachi, a girl and two young men allegedly took their own lives on Saturday due to prolonged illness and unemployment.
In the Civil Lines area of Hijrat Colony, the body of a girl was found hanging inside a house.
Upon receiving information, police and rescue teams reached the house and took the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where the deceased was identified as 15-year-old Iram, daughter of Arshad Ali.
Police said the girl had been ill for the past four months and the incident appeared to be a suicide.
In another incident, the body of a young man was found hanging near Bhimpura Imambargah in the Lea Market area.
Police and rescue officials responded to the scene and moved the body to the Civil Hospital, where the deceased was identified as 18-year-old Deen Islam, son of Ramzan.
Police said the victim’s family informed police that he had been suffering from financial hardships and was distressed due to unemployment. Reportedly, he took his own life by hanging himself with a rope at home. After completing legal formalities, police handed over the body to the family.
In a third case, the body of another young man was found hanging in a house near Awami Chowk and Karachi Hotel in Manzoor Colony, located in Baloch Colony. Police and rescue teams arrived at the scene and shifted the body to the CHK where the deceased was identified as 25-year-old Raheem.
Police stated that initial investigations suggested it was a suicide; however, the exact reason remained unknown. The deceased was reportedly involved in water supply work. Police later handed over the body to the family after completing necessary procedures.
