LAHORE:Punjab government is working to provide labourers with a safe and healthy environment and the use of modern machinery will boost industrial productivity, leading to economic growth and improved living standards for workers.
Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources Faisal Ayub Khokhar expressed these views while talking to an American delegation which called on him on Friday. The delegation included CEO of Families Set Free Michael Berkeley, Managing Director of Crown Solutions Hendry D Jong and Creative Director Stephanie Enfenson. Former provincial minister for human rights Ijaz Alam Augustine was also present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Crown Solutions company expressed its interest in investing in Pakistan's brick kiln industry. The discussion also focused on the proposal to transition from hand-made bricks to machine-made bricks. Moreover, the meeting covered the topic of providing skilled development and higher education opportunities for the children of workers employed in brick kilns. The delegation expressed its commitment to working alongside the Labour Department for the welfare of brick kiln workers. The meeting also discussed that the use of modern techniques would not only increase brick production but also reduce pollution. The provincial minister stated that the
