Police have registered a case against unidentified suspects for the murder of a trader, Amir Sultan, who was shot dead at his doorstep in front of his family during a robbery in Defence Phase I on the third day of Eidul Fitr.
Shocking CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, including those of the victim’s brother, who is also the complainant of the case, and the victim’s son have provided crucial details about the brutal killing.
"I was standing behind the car when I saw my father holding onto the robber, while the other robber was firing bullets at him. The robber fired the last shot and my father fell to the ground while the robbers fled," said the little son of the victim.
According to the complainant and CCTV footage, the assailants, riding a motorcycle, circled the victim and his vehicle multiple times before attempting to rob him. The victim resisted and engaged in a struggle with one of the attackers.
During the scuffle, the second suspect, who remained on the motorcycle, opened fire, fatally shooting Amir in the head before snatching his wallet and mobile phone and fleeing the scene. The harrowing footage also captured Amir’s young son running frantically, trying to save his father during the violent altercation.
An FIR has been registered at the Defence police station under murder and robbery charges. In his statement, the complainant, Shakir Sultan, said his brother was planning to travel to Hyderabad with his family to visit relatives.
As Amir stepped out of his flat to check the water level in his car’s bonnet, Shakir observed the scene from the gallery. It was then the armed men approached and attempted to rob Amir at gunpoint. Police said they had obtained the CCTV footage of the incident and launched investigations into the case.
