PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Sunday condemned the loss of civilian lives during an anti-terrorism operation in the Katlang town of the Mardan district the previous day.
According to a handout, in a video statement he stated that the incident was deeply regrettable but added that in past operations in the same area, notorious terrorists like Mohsin Baqir and Abbas had been eliminated.
According to official reports, 12 “terrorists” were killed during Saturday morning’s operation in the same locality. The chief minister emphasized that a thorough inquiry would be conducted to examine all aspects of the incident to bring the facts to light. He assured that the provincial government would take a clear stance on the matter once the inquiry report was available. Gandapur expressed his condolences and solidarity with the families of the deceased, stating that the provincial government shared their grief and would provide full support to them. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to assisting the bereaved families in every possible way.
The chief minister reiterated that both the provincial government and the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained resolute in their mission to eradicate terrorism from the province.
