WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will allow users to manage multiple accounts without the need for a separate device or relying on WhatsApp Business.

According to WABetaInfo, as per the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 25.9.10.70 update — which is available on the TestFlight app — this new feature will be available in a future update.

Meta's popular instant messaging app's upcoming feature will enable users to add a second account directly from the app settings, indicating a significant shift in user interaction. To accommodate this change, WhatsApp is expected to redesign its settings page, providing a streamlined experience for users.

Once a second account is added, users will see their profile picture in the settings tab bar, making it easier to differentiate between their various accounts.

WhatsApp is exploring two main methods for adding this secondary account: one will allow registration with a new phone number, while the other will enable the linking of a new account by scanning a QR code from the primary device.

The new multi-account feature will ensure that settings for each account remain independent, eliminating any potential confusion.

For instance, notifications, backups, auto-download media settings, and other preferences will be unique for each account, helping users maintain a clear distinction between personal and professional profiles.

This separation allows for tailored experiences with distinct tones and alert settings for each account.

At this stage, WhatsApp is still working on fine-tuning these features to ensure smooth performance across devices and accounts, including optimising the sync process, ensuring that profile changes, messages, and notifications are seamlessly integrated between accounts.

However, an exact launch date for the new feature has not yet been announced.
