The Karachi administration's ongoing crackdown against profiteering during Ramazan has led to substantial enforcement actions across the city.
On the 26th day of Ramazan, officials supervised sales at 181 locations, ensuring adherence to government-approved prices. This initiative, directed by Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi, resulted in fines totaling Rs514,000 imposed on 87 profiteers, with four shopkeepers arrested.
Throughout the first 26 days of Ramadan, authorities had taken action against 4,259 profiteers, sealing 157 shops and arresting 154 individuals for violating price regulations. Officials had personally supervised the sale of essential food items at 3,851 locations to ensure compliance with official prices. Commissioner Naqvi commended these efforts and instructed officers to maintain vigilance.
