PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to shift suspicious private examination halls to nearby government schools and colleges to curb cheating and ensure transparency in the upcoming matriculation exams.
Chairing a meeting at the Peshawar Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Commissioner, Peshawar Division, and Chairman of the Board, Riaz Khan Mahsud, said that the government’s focus was solely on eliminating cheating and maintaining fairness. He directed the officials to ensure the secure transportation and return of examination papers.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Peshawar Education Board Mehdi Jan, former Chairman Nasrullah, Director of the Private Schools Regulatory Authority Sohail Aziz, and deputy commissioners and district police officers from Peshawar, Charsadda, Mohmand, and Khyber, while officials from Chitral joined via video link.
A list has been finalised for relocating questionable private examination halls, and deputy commissioners have been instructed to submit focal persons’ names to the Peshawar Education Board. Commissioner Riaz Mahsud also directed all deputy commissioners to convene meetings today to finalise arrangements.
There have been complaints for some time that influential people running private educational institutions would get examination halls.
