LAHORE:Jamaat-i-Islami Punjab Emir Muhammad Javed Kasuri has announced launching a protest movement against the wheat crisis and the government's ‘anti-farmer’ policies.
Speaking at a press conference in Mansoora, here, alongside Dr Babar Rashid, Mian Rashid Manhala, and Muhammad Farooq Chauhan, he said Jamaat-i-Islami will hold an All Parties Conference on April 7 and set up a protest camp outside the Punjab Assembly on April 8. He warned of a major demonstration if the government fails to set the wheat support price at Rs4,000 per maund. Kasuri criticised rising agricultural costs, poor planning, and the neglect of farmers, warning that Pakistan faces a worsening food crisis. He urged immediate relief measures, including tax cuts on agricultural inputs and lower electricity rates to protect farmers and the economy.
