LAHORE:The president of the Punjab Revenue Coordination Council and APCA Punjab Thursday urged the Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) to take notice of the suspension of patwaris and cases against them in Rawalpindi.

Ziaullah Niazi termed the suspension of patwaris by the Assistant Commissioner (AC) Revenue and AC Saddar, Rawalpindi, illegal acts. In a formal letter to the SMBR Punjab, he objected to the issuance of show-cause notices to eight more patwaris by the ACs in Rawalpindi’s Revenue Department. He accused the ACs of forcing their readers to become complainants in the FIRs. He termed the acts of the ACs unilateral and retaliatory ones.

Niazi said if such actions were not halted, protest calls would be extended across the province. He urged the authorities concerned to resolve the matter amicably ensuring employees' dignity intact.

Niazi said if the ACs were not restrained from exceeding their authorities all revenue offices would be closed. A formal complaint has also been forwarded to the SMBR Punjab, Nabeel Javed in this regard.
