LAHORE: The much-anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL X) exhibition match between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators, scheduled for April 8 at the newly constructed Arbab Niaz Stadium, is facing significant challenges due to concerns over the venue’s readiness.
A recent inspection by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) raised serious issues regarding the stadium’s condition. The inspection team deemed the pitch and outfield unsatisfactory, citing substandard conditions that could compromise player safety and the overall quality of the match.
Additionally, the dressing rooms were found to lack essential facilities, while the media and commentary boxes were reported to be severely under-equipped. The exhibition match was intended to engage local fans and build excitement ahead of the 10th edition of the PSL, set to commence on April 11. The PCB had envisioned the event as a platform to generate momentum for the tournament while reaffirming its commitment to expanding cricket across Pakistan. Javed Afridi, the owner of Peshawar Zalmi, has been a vocal advocate for hosting PSL matches in Peshawar.
