QUETTA: The Chief Minister of Balochistan Sarfaraz Bugti has said that regulating internet services has become inevitable, emphasizing that anti-state elements are using social media as a weapon to negatively influence the minds of the youth.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting with the IT department and cellular operators. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary of Balochistan Shakil Qadir Khan, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, Secretary of Finance Imran Zarkoon, Secretary of Agriculture Noor Ahmed Pirkani, Secretary of the Livestock Department Abdul Fattah Bhanger, Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade Bilal Khan Kakar, Director of PDMA Faisal Khan Panizai, Government of Balochistan spokesperson Shahid Rind, along with representatives from relevant departments and PTA. He emphasized the need to curb attempts to mislead the youth through social media and to provide them with proper guidance in a positive direction.
The meeting included a detailed discussion on improving the IT and telecom sectors in Balochistan. Secretary of the IT Department Ayaz Khan Mandokhel briefed the participants. Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said that utilizing the IT sector to improve governance is the need of the hour. This will not only provide facilities to the public but also ensure transparency and improvement in government affairs. He directed that a comprehensive policy be formulated for the improvement and regulation of internet services in Balochistan, ensuring that the benefits of modern technology reach the public in a positive manner.
