ISLAMABAD: Implementing the decision of the federal cabinet, the federal government has implemented the The Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca) in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), declaring the board’s infrastructure as critical while any interference in it would invoke the new law.
According to government sources, a decision has been taken to declare the infrastructure of the FBR as critical, according to which its IT system, data center and applications will be considered critical infrastructure. The FBR has sent a letter to all its regional tax offices, corporate tax offices, large tax offices, chief commissioners of medium tax offices, AEOI zones, Benami zones, commissioners of Inland Revenue and Commissioner Appeals, all directors general and directors of Inland Revenue and Customs Service, including field heads across the country, for implementation.
