KARACHI: PMLN supremo Nawaz Sharif can lead discussions for building consensus against terrorism, said PMLN leader and former federal minister Khurram Dastgir Khan while talking to a news channel on Monday. He also suggested inducting JUIF chief Fazlur Rehman or any candidate from his party into the federal cabinet.

Khurram Dastgir said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has returned from a Saudi visit and it is also the last week of Ramazan but strategies are being devised to drive maximum consensus of political forces over the war against terror. He said the mode of consultations, whether it is through another parliamentary huddle or a parliamentary debate or a debate by a provincial assembly, is presently under consideration and a decision will be reached within a few days.

The attack on Jaffar Express, hostage-taking and murder of Pakistani nationals are no longer actions by some disgruntled elements and have escalated insurgency to terrorism. In this context, no one is better placed than PMLN supremo Nawaz Sharif to lead such a dialogue. This proposal is also under consideration.

Regarding the expected opposition campaign after Eid and the possible role of JUIF chief Fazlur Rehman, Khurram Dastgir praised Fazlur Rehman’s clear, categorial stance against terrorism in the backdrop of the Akora Khattak incident. Dastgir said the JUIF chief has cordial relations with the top PML leadership and he is personally of the view that he must be included in the federal cabinet and his issues and reservations must be addressed. Even if this means the federal government to play its due role in creating political space for the PMLF chief at the provincial level, Dastgir concluded.
