PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Monday disposed of a contempt of court petition after the salaries were paid to two female employees of the District Population Office, Mardan.

A two-member bench comprising Acting Chief Justice SM Attique Shah and Justice Syed Arshad Ali heard the petition while Advocate Ghazanfar Ali appeared on behalf of the petitioners.

The lawyer informed the court that his clients were appointed in the District Population Office, Mardan, but were dismissed from their jobs without any reason. However, they had filed an appeal, which resulted in their reinstatement. He pleaded that the non-payment of salaries had caused significant difficulties for the women, even though they had already been reinstated.

At this point, the representative of the District Population Officer informed the court that the women were entitled to their salaries and that an official notification had been issued for their payment. Following this assurance, the court disposed of the contempt of court petition.
