Senior Sindh minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Sunday extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of the country on the historic occasion of Pakistan Day.
Memon said that this is the day when Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other great leaders laid the foundation for turning the dream of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Subcontinent into reality.
In his Pakistan Day message he said the country is the result of the countless sacrifices made by our ancestors for the establishment of an independent and democratic state. “Today we must remember those great martyrs who laid down their lives for the freedom and sovereignty of our country. Today is a day to renew our commitment to unity, and to confront the challenges facing Pakistan.”
He emphasised that for a strong, stable and prosperous nation, it is essential for all of us to rise above our differences, and stand together. He urged everyone to contribute to the country’s development by following Jinnah’s principles. Meanwhile, the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Karachi held an event at the Customs House in connection with Pakistan Day, during which Collector of Customs Enforcement Moeenuddin Wani and Collector of Customs Appeals Asad Afzal raised the national flag, and paid salute.
Later, Wani laid flowers at the Martyrs’ Memorial, and offered prayers for the souls of the departed. A well-disciplined Customs Enforcement contingent paid their respects at the Martyrs’ Memorial.
During his address, Wani reaffirmed the commitment to continue the fight against smuggling, contributing to the stabilisation of the national economy, and suppressing elements that harm the country’s economy.
