LAHORE:The district administration celebrated Pakistan Day with traditional zeal here on Sunday. Administrator and Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza led the celebrations with great enthusiasm, reinforcing the message of unity and progress for the nation while PHA organised a laser light show at Minar-e-Pakistan.
In a heartfelt address, the DC extended warm greetings to the entire nation, calling March 23 a ‘golden day’ in Pakistan’s history—a day when the foundation of a free homeland was laid through the historic Pakistan Resolution.
Different flag-hoisting ceremonies were held in the city. At Town Hall, a spirited rally from Town Hall to Istanbul Chowk was also held to mark the occasion. DC Syed Musa Raza emphasised that this day is not just a celebration but a call to renew the pledge to protect and advance the country, reflecting the sacrifices of our forefathers.
The administration’s efforts showcased its commitment to fostering national pride and collective responsibility among citizens. Accompanied by Chief Officer, Metropolitan Corporation Lahore Shahid Abbas Kathiya, along with Additional Deputy Commissioners Muhammad Jaffar Chaudhry and Muhammad Shojain Vistro, the DC led the rally.
On the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, on Saturday night, Minar-e-Pakistan was lit up with green and white lights in country's largest light show to pay a shining tribute to those who presented Pakistan Resolution at Minto Park in 1940.
Minar-e-Pakistan, a monument of the Pakistan Resolution, began to illuminate the sky with national flag, as with the help of light, the image of moon, star and national flag appeared on Minar-e-Pakistan. The white and green lights that shone on Minar-e- Pakistan adorned the sky. The architectural design of Minar-e-Pakistan was also highlighted with the help of light. A large number of people came to watch the light show. The light rotating around Minar-e-Pakistan entertained the viewers. A beautiful scene of twinkling stars around Minar-e-Pakistan with the help of laser light mesmirised the viewers.
The theme of the national flag was also illuminated on the Royal Fort, Museum, Punjab Assembly, GPO and other ancient buildings. The citizens paid rich tribute to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for arranging the Laser Light Show on Pakistan Day. They said, "Twinkling lights on Minar-e-Pakistan created a dream-like situation. It seems as if white and green twinkling stars have arrived on the horizon of Minar-e-Pakistan."
