The Karachi Commissioner's Office penalised 116 profiteers on 21st Ramazan on Saturday.
According to a report shared by the Commissioner's Office, as many as 116 profiteers were penalised with fines amounting to Rs1.07 million, while five shops were sealed.
A total of 1,235 shops were inspected, and auctions were conducted to ensure the availability of commodities at official prices.
Special magistrates imposed fines amounting to Rs44,000.
The report also detailed the outcomes of a 21-day crackdown, during which 3,702 shops were fined, with total penalties exceeding Rs39.9 million.
Additionally, 149 shopkeepers and owners were arrested and 134 shops sealed.
Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi commended the efforts of deputy commissioners and directed the officials concerned to continue with their efforts to implement the official prices and provide relief to the citizens during the holy month.
