March 23 marks a defining moment in our nation’s history. It is a day that reminds us of the unwavering resolve of our forefathers, who envisioned an independent and sovereign Pakistan. The Lahore Resolution of 1940 was more than just an aspiration for a separate homeland; it was a declaration of a future built on self-determination, unity and progress. Today, as we commemorate this historic occasion, we must reflect on the path we have taken and the journey that lies ahead. The spirit of March 23 is not confined to history — it serves as a blueprint for Pakistan’s destined rise on the global stage.

Pakistan’s story is one of resilience. Over the decades, we have faced economic, security and social challenges, yet time and again, we have demonstrated our ability to overcome adversity and reinvent ourselves. The foundation laid in 1940 was built upon in 1947, and ever since Pakistan has stood strong in the face of trials. The strength of a nation is measured not just by its ability to endure challenges but by its capacity to transform them into opportunities. Today, we find ourselves at a pivotal moment in history, with immense potential to reshape our economic and strategic landscape.

Pakistan’s transformation is being steered under URAAN Pakistan — an ambitious national framework designed to propel the country toward sustainable, inclusive and high-growth development. URAAN stands for United Reforms for Accelerated and Inclusive National Development, and it is built on the principles of economic revival, social inclusion, governance reform and technological advancement. Through URAAN Pakistan, we are laying the groundwork for a future-ready Pakistan that is competitive, dynamic and prosperous.

Our economy is undergoing a structural transformation, with a renewed emphasis on export-led growth, digitalisation and industrial competitiveness. The 5Es Framework — focusing on Exports, E-Pakistan, Equity & Empowerment, Environment (Food & Water Security) and Energy & Infrastructure — is at the core of our economic agenda. CPEC remains a game-changer, strengthening our position as a regional trade and investment hub, while digital governance and entrepreneurship initiatives are fostering innovation-driven economic progress.

Under URAAN Pakistan, special economic zones (SEZs), the digital economy, and green industrialisation are key areas of focus. The shift towards renewable energy and smart infrastructure is not just an economic necessity but a strategic imperative to ensure energy security and climate resilience. Through efficient policymaking, investor-friendly initiatives, and ease of doing business reforms, Pakistan is attracting capital and talent from across the world.

National security and strategic strength remain central to Pakistan’s progress. The world today is defined by rapid geopolitical shifts, and Pakistan continues to play a pivotal role in ensuring regional stability. Our armed forces and security institutions have safeguarded national sovereignty with unwavering commitment, ensuring that Pakistan remains a pillar of stability in South Asia. Advances in defence technology, cybersecurity and intelligence capabilities reinforce our ability to protect national interests while contributing to global peace and security.

As a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Pakistan’s global engagement has entered a new phase of influence and responsibility. This role provides Pakistan with a platform to advocate for peace, security and equitable global governance. We continue to be a strong voice for conflict resolution, counterterrorism and multilateral diplomacy, ensuring that regional and global challenges are addressed through dialogue and cooperation.

Pakistan’s contributions to UN peacekeeping missions, humanitarian efforts and climate action reinforce our commitment to a more peaceful and sustainable world. As a key player in global economic discussions, South-South cooperation and regional stability, Pakistan is actively shaping the future of international relations.

A nation’s true strength lies in its people. Human capital development is the cornerstone of URAAN Pakistan, with strategic investments in education, healthcare and skills development. Pakistan’s youth, the largest segment of our population, holds the key to our future. Initiatives under URAAN Pakistan focus on expanding access to quality education, digital learning and vocational training to prepare our youth for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

Healthcare, another critical pillar, is being strengthened through universal health coverage programmes, medical research investments and hospital modernisation. The pandemic reinforced the need for a resilient healthcare system, and our continued reforms will ensure that Pakistan emerges as a regional leader in public health and medical innovation.

The significance of March 23 extends beyond historical commemoration — it is a reminder of our potential. The challenges Pakistan faces today are not insurmountable. Through URAAN Pakistan, we are laying the foundation for a modern, progressive and prosperous nation. Our journey toward a knowledge-driven economy, robust institutions and a cohesive national identity is guided by the same vision that inspired our forefathers.

Pakistan is rising. The world is witnessing the emergence of a new Pakistan — resilient, ambitious and forward-looking. As we celebrate this historic day, let us reaffirm our commitment to national unity, economic stability and social progress.

Together, under the vision of URAAN Pakistan, we will chart a new course — one that ensures Pakistan soars to new heights of prosperity, stability, and global leadership.

Pakistan Zindabad!
