‘True green Pakistan need of hour’

LAHORE:In a significant step towards promoting environmental sustainability, DG Sports Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry inaugurated the Plant for Pakistan Tree Plantation Campaign by planting a sapling outside the National Hockey Stadium on the occasion of World Forest Day on Friday.

Talking on this occasion, the DG Sports Punjab informed that saplings are being planted in all sports complexes across the province under the Plant for Pakistan Tree Plantation Campaign. “A true green Pakistan is the need of the hour. Trees signify a healthy and civilized society, and it is our responsibility to grow the maximum number of trees in our surroundings,” he stated.

Khizar Afzaal emphasised the importance of tree plantation in mitigating pollution and promoting public health. “Tree plantation is a very healthy activity, and it will play a pivotal role in eliminating environmental pollution. This campaign is aligned with the vision of the Punjab Chief Minister, focusing on a green and sustainable future,” he remarked.

He said the Plant for Pakistan Tree Plantation Campaign underscores the Punjab government’s dedication to environmental conservation and creating awareness about the benefits of a greener landscape. “With sports complexes leading the way, the campaign aims to inspire collective efforts toward achieving a sustainable and eco-friendly future for all.”

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Director Admin Dr. M Kaleem, Director Sports Rana Nadeem Anjum, and Deputy Director Tariq Khanzada, along with other dignitaries. Special prayers were offered on this occasion for the prosperity and well-being of the country.
