‘Measures to deal with heat wave, drought in Cholistan complete’

LAHORE:An important meeting of PDMA was held under the chairmanship of Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabeel Javed. PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia gave a briefing on the possible heat wave and arrangements. It was informed in the briefing that in view of the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, all arrangements have been completed to deal with the heat wave.

Water bowsers and jerry cans have been provided to prevent possible drought in Cholistan. Water bowsers can store 12,500 to 5,000 litre water. As per the instructions of the chief minister, all facilities will be provided to the residents of Cholistan. A briefing was also given on a mock exercise to deal with monsoon rains and possible floods.

The recruitment of administrative officers for warehouses in Sargodha, Rajanpur and Jhang was reviewed. The Relief Commissioner Punjab issued instructions to the PDMA in the districts to take steps to build stores for rescue equipment. The meeting also reviewed the progress of ongoing schemes to prevent river erosion. Relief Commissioner said that cleaning of rivers and canals and drainage should be ensured.
