RAWALPINDI: In a major breakthrough, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested two extremists affiliated with a banned terrorist outfit while they were preparing to execute an attack.
The suspects have been shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation, a CTD spokesperson announced on Thursday.
According to officials, the Punjab CTD successfully prevented a major catastrophe by apprehending the two highly dangerous terrorists, identified as Roman and Hamza, from Mughal Market in Rawalpindi. The suspects were reportedly involved in an attack on the Aiyan Police Station and had finalized their preparations for a large-scale terrorist operation in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Further investigations revealed that the arrested terrorists were in direct contact with a terrorist commander based in Afghanistan. The CTD spokesperson emphasized that the department’s swift and strategic operation has thwarted a potential disaster, safeguarding countless lives.
Authorities have intensified their efforts to trace and dismantle any remaining networks linked to the suspects. Security agencies remain on high alert to ensure the safety of citizens.
