LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Inspection, Surveillance and Monitoring Directorate Chairperson Brig (retd) Babar Alauddin directed Wasa officials to complete the development projects in accordance with modern requirements and within the stipulated time. He stressed on tightening the monitoring of the projects, ensuring transparency and providing quality services to the citizens.
He issued these directions during his visit to Wasa Head Office here on Thursday on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. During the visit, he presided over an important meeting, in which MD Wasa Ghufran Ahmed gave a detailed briefing on various development projects under the Lahore Development Programme and Wasa’s master plan. The meeting also discussed the revenue collection, complaint management system and solarisation of Wasa Lahore. A detailed briefing was given on the IT and energy project projects of Wasa Lahore.
MD Wasa briefed about the Wasa Lahore’s modern IT reforms, including Rain Dashboard, Revenue Dashboard, Vehicle Monitoring, Generators Monitoring and Call Center 1334 Dashboard. Furthermore, it was also informed that Wasa Lahore has installed 2 MW solar system while there was a plan to install another 3.5 MW solar system this year.
MD Wasa said that Wasa Lahore will purchase 200 new machinery this year to provide better facilities to the public. Development work was underway in two phases under the Lahore Development Program, in the first phase, 443 km of sewerage line and 548 km of water supply line were being laid, while the second phase will also be started this year.
The meeting was also briefed on the project of underground water tanks to conserve rainwater, on which the Chairperson expressed satisfaction. He said that timely steps need to be taken to save water and we have to work together to stop water wastage. In addition, the Chairperson inspected the control room of Wasa Lahore and met the staff present there.
