ISLAMABAD: In a major push to ease production costs and revamp trade policies, the government assured Pakistan’s top businesses on Tuesday that it was committed to consistent policies and reducing tariff hurdles to spur exports.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan and Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan met with the Pakistan Business Council (PBC) delegation, pledging practical measures to make Pakistani industries globally competitive.
Haroon Akhtar acknowledged concerns over rising production costs and tariff structures, emphasizing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s focus on creating a pro-business environment. “If you are progressing, we are progressing,” he told PBC representatives, stressing that sustainable growth hinges on stable, predictable policies.
Commerce Minister Jam Kamal echoed the commitment, highlighting government efforts to streamline trade, attract investment and stabilise the economy. Both officials reaffirmed continuous dialogue with industry stakeholders to shape policies that strengthen Pakistan’s industrial base and export potential.
