MANSEHRA: The police department has imposed strict restrictions on the transportation of large granite rocks from Oghi and Darband to markets in Punjab and the rest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“We have taken these measures in response to public demands in Oghi and Darband tehsils to ensure the safety of travellers on the Karakoram Highway and other roads,” District Police Officer (DPO) Shafiullah Khan Gandapur told reporters here on Wednesday.

He said that several fatal accidents had occurred due to the unsafe transportation of giant rocks in open trucks without adopting safety measures.

“Traffic wardens will not allow the transportation of mega rocks on open lorries along the Karakoram Highway, Darband-Oghi-Mansehra Road, and other local routes,” Gandapur said.

He added that Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Shahnawaz Khan had been directed to ensure strict enforcement of these measures across the district, particularly in Oghi and Darband.
