Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that fake leadership will lead the country nowhere and suggested that all the quarters should stick to their constitutional role.
Addressing a big gathering at the RCD Ground in the Malir area of Karachi on Monday, he emphasised the need for bridging the gap between the masses and the Pakistan Army, saying that no army could win any war without complete support of the nation.
He alleged that Indian agency RAW, CIA and other intelligence agencies were working in Pakistan and they wanted to destabilise the country by creating divisions. Talking about the prevailing situation, he said that 27 attacks had been carried out against the military in the past 24 hours along in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Jaffar express tragedy was also a big failure on part of the government, he said.
Similarly, the JI chief maintained, gangsters ruled over interior areas of Sindh, street crimes were rampant in Karachi and a large number of people had been killed by dumpers in the megacity.
He also shed light on the rate of inflation, electricity tariff, fuel prices, and poor education and health services. Rehman said the rulers had detached themselves totally with the public. They had raised their salaries by 300 per cent, while billions and billions of taxpayers’ money was spoiled on misleading media campaigns, he added.
He challenged the prime minister’s claim about decreased inflation and dubbed it a deception by the premier. The problems would continue if the corrupt regime continued to rule over the country, he said alleging that the ruling regime supported mafias.
Those in the corridors of power must know that the nation would not get united if fake rulers were imposed on it, the JI head said as he asked the establishment and other quarters to revert to their constitutional role.
He asserted that it was not a way of governance that votes were cast for someone else and leadership was bestowed to the rejected lot. He said such flawed policies created mistrust between the people and those in the corridors of power. He said the establishment had unfortunately imposed rejected leaders belonging to the Pakistan Peoples Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement on the people of Karachi. Similarly, a fake mayor was imposed on Karachi and its people, he added.
He also announced that the party was contemplating over introducing a no confidence motion against what he said the fake mayor imposed on the Karachiites. The people of Karachi had been deprived of their due rights, resources, roads and other infrastructure due to the corrupt ruling regime, he said.
The JI wanted to empower the youth, women and other neglected segments of society, he said as he urged them to work in a coordinated manner for the rights of Karachi and its residents. He also announced mass mobilisation after Eidul Fitr.
