Law enforcement agencies have seized tankers filled with stolen crude oil as part of the ongoing crackdown against oil theft.

According to the Korangi police, police arrested six suspects involved in large-scale oil theft and seized a tanker containing 25,000 litres of crude oil during a raid in Korangi on Saturday. Following investigations, police conducted another raid late at night in Zaman Town where they seized another tanker containing 50,000 litres of crude oil. The driver of the tanker was also arrested.

Investigations revealed that the suspects had rented a warehouse to facilitate the oil theft. They had dug a 150-foot-deep tunnel inside the warehouse to reach an underground pipeline, from which they illegally extracted thousands of litres of crude oil daily using a clamp system. A case has been registered on behalf of the government against the six arrested individuals and two other suspects who are yet to be arrested. Further investigations are under way.
