A woman was stabbed to death by her husband outside the Malir court, which she was visiting to file for divorce. The attack also left their daughter injured. Police have arrested the suspect and seized the murder weapon.
The deceased was identified as Rehmat, 45, and the injured as Rabia, 25. Both victims were rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where Rehmat succumbed to her injuries, while Rabia’s condition is reported to be stable.
During police interrogation, the suspect, namely Sarwar, admitted to committing the crime. He worked at a tandoor, while his wife was employed at a factory. He claimed that Rehmat had developed a relationship with a man named Qasim at her workplace, and that she had wanted to divorce him because of Qasim. He said their daughter had recently gone through a divorce, and had supported her mother’s decision to leave him.
On the day of the incident, Rehmat had gone to the court to file for divorce when Sarwar confronted her and attacked both her and their daughter with a knife. Police said Sarwar had claimed that he only intended to scare them. However, Rehmat suffered a fatal stab wound to the abdomen. A case was registered on the complaint of Rabia.
