NOWSHERA: The body of a missing youth was recovered from the Kabul River in the Nowshera Kalan area on Sunday.The youth had gone missing some 15 days ago and later his bullet-riddled body was retrieved from the river
Basit Ali, a resident of Zaida Town in Swabi, who is currently living in Zakariya Colony, Nowshera Kalan, told the police that his 18-year old brother Abdur Rahman had gone to Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex Hospital with Syed Ejaz Hussain, a resident of Zakariya Colony, Nowshera, on March 1.
However, after leaving the hospital, Abdur Rahman disappeared and never returned home. His mobile phone was also switched off.He said that the family had been searching for him for several days but they did not find any clue top his whereabouts.
The complainant nominated his brother’s friend, Hassan, who was arrested and produced him in the local court, which sent him to jail on judicial remand.On Sunday, the body of Abdur Rahman’s was recovered from the Kabul River and was transferred to DHQ Hospital. The post-mortem report revealed that he was shot in the head and killed.
Later, the victim’s family placed the body on Grand Trunk (GT) Road in protest in Shobra Chowk, demanding justice. They expressed dissatisfaction over the police investigation, claiming that no evidence had been collected yet, which was why the suspect had only been sent to jail on judicial remand.After negotiations between the victim’s family and the police, the road was reopened after an hour.
