Health dept gets over Rs32 billion for hospitals

LAHORE:The Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education has received Rs32.68 billion from the Finance Department for the remaining four months of the current financial year for the hospitals under its management.

According to a handout, Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that the officers concerned were directed to transfer the money to the teaching hospitals. He added steps were being taken by the Punjab government in the health sector on priority basis.

Meanwhile, a meeting was held in the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique. The meeting, also attended by Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood, discussed various agendas while all the Vice Chancellors (VCs) presented their suggestions for the improvement of the medical education and nursing department.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that according to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, modern training modules would be introduced in the nursing department. The health department will soon hold a meeting with the Pakistan Nursing Council to improve medical education and the nursing sector. The minister highlighted that the Punjab government is offering nurses higher stipends than any other province, he concluded.
