Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar on Wednesday chaired the second meeting of the Steering Committee and said that the redressal reports submitted to the business community on concerns related to business activities in the city, illegal encroachments and complaints against the land grabbing mafia were reviewed on a case-by-case basis and in this context, unanimous decisions were made based on joint suggestions and consultations.
Officials said that in the previous meeting, Lanjar had formed a sub-committee headed by the commissioner of Karachi on the complaints of traders and had given instructions that comprehensive reports containing documented issues and measures should be presented in the next meeting on the redressal of the complaints of the business community.
The meeting reviewed the reports submitted by the business community organization on 22 complaints filed by various business companies and builders associated with industrial zones, including Ittehad Builders, Rana Builders, Kaleem-uz-Zaman Builders, Owais Godil & Company, Al-Ghazi Builders, Aimal Developers, Maryland Builders, SAF & Company, King Builders, MSF Company, Sikandar & Company, Sami Builders, Northern Builders, HTJ Builders. According to the reports, the complaints filed by ABAD were related to illegal encroachments and land/plot encroachments in the industrial zones of West, Malir and Keamari districts.
The home minister directed the sub-committee headed by the commissioner to prepare final reports on the complaints of the business community against land grabbing mafia, plots, land encroachments and illegal encroachments within 15 days and submit them for review and further necessary steps.
He said that it is not possible to quickly dispose of old cases filed in the recent past; however, all old cases can be resolved by eliminating some of the complications faced in this regard. Moreover, in the current time and circumstances, if land or plots have been occupied, then in such a case, all such plots, lands or lands will be cleared of the encroaching mafia within 24 hours by verifying all the legal and necessary documents of the land and plots.
On the discussion regarding the Tapedars in the meeting, he assured to change the Tapedars at the district level, while on the complaints against the SHO Gulshan-e-Maymar by the business community, the home minister instructed Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho to immediately remove the SHO and ensure that steps are taken to appoint an officer of good repute as SHO in his place, and a compliance report should be sent to this office as soon as possible. The meeting was attended by the additional chief secretary, SMBR, IG Sindh, chairman anti-corruption Sindh, additional IG Karachi, Chairman ABAD, president KCCI and chairman KATI.
