IG orders high security alert in Punjab

LAHORE:Punjab IG Dr Usman Anwar has instructed a high security alert across the province in light of the current situation.

Around 791 search operations and seven mock drills were conducted across the province in the past two days, leading to the arrest of wanted criminals, habitual offenders, and suspects involved in serious crimes.

According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, authorities recovered three Kalashnikovs, 30 rifles, 21 handguns, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition from the suspects. IG Punjab emphasised that mock drills will continue to enhance preparedness against terrorists and criminals.

Reviews uplift projects’ progress

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab, Wednesday reviewed the progress and fund utilisation on ongoing development projects across the province in a meeting held at the Central Police Office (CPO).

The Additional IG Special Branch, Additional IG Training, DIG SPU, DIG Admin Lahore, CCPO Lahore, AIG Finance, AIG Development and Logistics, and SP PHP attended the meeting while Additional IG South Punjab, Commandants PC Sihala, RPOs, CPOs, and DPOs participated the meeting via video link. The cops briefed the meeting on completed and ongoing projects, including smart police stations, safe city initiatives, and police check posts. The meeting reviewed construction and repair of barracks, hostels, SDPO offices, roads, and police training institutions. The IGP emphasised the timely completion of all under-construction projects and directed the authorities concerned to start development work immediately after administrative approval and tendering.

Rs3m more released for cops’ treatment

Punjab Police have released more Rs3 million for the medical treatment of cops and their families. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, Sub-Inspector Khadim Ali has been released Rs0.5 million, SI Irfan Munawar, Constables Qamar Ilyas, Hamza Khan, and Sanwal Shahzad Rs350,000 each and Constable Muhammad Sami Ullah Rs150,000 for medical treatment. Inspector Shamshair Khan, Constables Ikram Ashraf, Muhammad Yasin, ASI Asghar Ali, Head Constable Muhammad Anas, Constables Asad Abbas, and Shabbir-ur-Rehman have been given Rs100,000 each, Junior Clerk Ghulam Mohiuddin, Head Constable Kasur Tahir, and Constables Nasir Ali and Mathila Khan have been given Rs230,000 collectively for theirs and their families’ treatment.
