SUKKUR: Sindh Taraqi-pasand Party (STP) chief Dr Qadir Magsi on Sunday criticised the PMLN government and its coalition partner PPP over their approval of canals project on the Indus River.
“We have only one demand that is no canal should be constructed on the Indus River,” Dr Magsi said. “Every citizen of Sindh is united to defeat this project.”
Addressing a rally in Mehar taluka of Dadu district, he said the Indus River is a symbol of 5,000-year-old civilization. “They (people) have come out to defend their right to live as Sindh has been struggling for water for the past four months,” he said.
Dr Magsi further said Sindh is going through a difficult time, but the elected representatives are indifferent to it, adding that time has come to save it.
Dr. Magsi said that a big public demonstration will be held at Hyderabad’s Haider Chowk on February 24, where millions of Sindhis would reach and raise their voice against the alleged plunder of the Indus River.
He warns any attempt by India to disrupt flow of Pakistani rivers would be tantamount to an act of war
