Gala organised to highlight unique taste of Ghazi’s oranges

HARIPUR: To elevate the profile of Ghazi’s oranges and highlight their unique taste and quality, the first Ghazi Gala was held here on Wednesday.

The gala was jointly organised by the Agriculture Department, University of Haripur and district administration in Ghazi tehsil.

Former provincial minister and PTI’s leader Yousuf Ayub Khan and MPA Malik Adeel Iqbal inaugurated the daylong event. University of Haripur Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Shafiqur Rehman, Deputy Commissioner Shauzab Abbas, university students, farmers and tourists from different parts of the country were present on the occasion.

The event served as a platform to showcase the local citrus variety, empower the local farming community and catalyze sustainable economic growth in the region.

The event also brought together a confluence of stakeholders, showcasing 48 diverse stalls epitomizing the best of agriculture, innovation, and community enterprise, exceptional quality and taste of Ghazi’s oranges, cementing their place as a hallmark of the district’s agricultural legacy.

While some leading private companies highlighted cutting-edge agricultural products and technologies and banks offered financial solutions and support tailored for farmers, government departments also displayed state-of-the-art initiatives aimed at modernizing and empowering the agricultural sector, and the University of Haripur provided groundbreaking academic and technical insights into sustainable farming practices on this occasion.

Speaking to the media persons, Deputy Commissioner Shauzab Abbas said that the Ghazi Gala, which was first of its kind in the area, has laid the groundwork for increased recognition of Ghazi’s citrus on a national scale. “It also served as a testament to the power of public-private partnerships in driving innovation and growth,” he said.
