3,000 charge nurses assigned to 31 Punjab hospitals

LAHORE : The Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education has posted 3,000 newly-recruited charge nurses of BS 16 in 31 different government teaching hospitals of Punjab.

A notification for the posting of 3,000 charge nurses has also been issued. According to the details, 440 charge nurses were posted in Mayo Hospital Lahore, 100 in General Hospital Lahore, 40 in Jinnah Hospital Lahore, 201 in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Lahore, 42 in Punjab Institute of Neurosciences, 253 in Services Hospital Lahore, 10 in Government Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Hospital, Yaki Gate Lahore and 10 charge nurses were posted in Jinnah Burn and Reconstructive Surgery Centre Lahore.

According to the details, 70 charge nurses have been posted to Bahawal Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur, 70 to Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi Hospital Bahawalpur, 118 to Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital DG Khan, 100 to Nishtar Hospital Multan, 46 to Nishtar II Hospital Multan, 55 to Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahim Yar Khan, 170 to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital Sahiwal, 31 to Allied Hospital Faisalabad and 12 charge nurses to Allied II Hospital Faisalabad.

According to the details, 188 charge nurses have been posted to DHQ Teaching Hospital Gujranwala, 100 to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital Gujrat, 25 to Syed Muhammad Hussain Government TB Sanatorium Smalli Murree and 23 charge nurses to Syed Mitha Hospital Lahore.

According to the details, 111 charge nurses have been posted to Punjab Institute of Cardiology Lahore, 14 to Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, 20 to Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology and 20 to Sahiwal Institute of Cardiology.

According to the details, 139 charge nurses have been posted to Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Institute of Cardiology Multan, 30 to Institute of Cardiology DG Khan, 49 to Pervaiz Elahi Institute of Cardiology Bahawalpur, 300 to Children's Hospital and Institute of Child Health Lahore, 100 to Children's Hospital and Institute of Child Health Multan and 28 charge nurses have been posted to Children's Hospital Faisalabad.

All newly recruited and posted charge nurses have been directed to take charge and join their duties immediately. After the deployment of 3,000 newly-recruited charge nurses in various government teaching hospitals in Punjab, there will be a clear improvement and change in the current healthcare system.

Meanwhile, Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique attended a seminar on the topic of ‘Governance leadership in healthcare management at the Institute of Public Health (IPH) as a special guest.

On this occasion, Khawaja Salman Rafique inaugurated various projects at the Institute of Public Health and reviewed the ongoing revamping project.

Former health minister Prof Javed Akram attended as a guest of honour. IPH Dean Prof Saira Afzal highlighted the aims and objectives of the seminar.

On this occasion, Prof Majeed Chaudhry, Prof Akhtar Sohail Chughtai, Prof Mahmood Ayaz, Prof Javed Akram and other speakers delivered speeches on the topic of the seminar.

In his address to the participants of the seminar, Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that we have all worked very hard for the IPH. The purpose of ministry of health is only to serve humanity. I work as a team member with the heads of medical institutions. We approach the IPH for technical assistance to prevent dangerous diseases. Alhamdulillah, all the MSs that have been applied in the last 10 months have been posted 100 percent on merit. Providing health facilities to a population of 130 million has become a challenge for doctors and nurses. We have to work with think tanks.

The minister said that we are improving the curriculum of medical colleges. As per the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, we are trying to provide the best health facilities to the people. A state-of-the-art Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research is being built in Lahore.

Former health minister Prof Javed Akram said that leaders do not create followers, but more leaders. Pakistan is going to become the third most populous country in the world. The IPH should become a centre of excellence.

On this occasion, Robotic Surgeon and KEMU Vice Chancellor Prof Mahmood Ayaz, Additional Secretary Technical Dr Muhammad Waseem, Deputy Secretary Technical Dr Abdul Rehman, Dean IPH Prof Saira Afzal, Prof Atya Mubarak, Dr Jamshed from the World Health Organisation, Punjab Healthcare Commission CEO Dr Saqib Aziz, renowned journalist Wasif Nagi and faculty members were present.
