5-year record of cybercrime complaints with FIA presented in NA

1,469 cases were registered and 1,700 accused were arrested, while 48 were convicted

ISLAMABAD: Details of complaints filed by citizens regarding cybercrime with the FIA over the past five years were presented in the National Assembly (NA). According to a written report submitted by the interior minister, a total of 649,564 complaints were filed in the last five years. 5,713 cases were registered after the verification and inquiry process. 7,020 accused were arrested and only 222 were convicted by the court out of them. 102,000 complaints were filed in 2020. Verification of 98,882 was done and 9,112 inquiries were made, while 601 cases were registered. 625 accused were arrested and twenty were sentenced. 115,868 complaints were filed in 2021. Verification of 808,803 was done. 15,766 inquiries were made and 1,224 cases were registered and 38 were sentenced. 145,667 complaints were registered in 2022. 83,552 were verified. 14,380 were investigated. The 1,469 cases were registered and 1,700 accused were arrested, while 48 were convicted. 152,136 complaints were registered in 2023. 82,396 were verified. 18,012 inquiries were conducted and 1,375 cases were registered, while 2,007 accused were arrested and 92 were convicted. 123,893 complaints were registered in 2024. 68,627 were verified. 16,555 were inquired. 1,044 cases were registered and 1,382 were arrested, while 24 were convicted.
