MULTAN: Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUIF) chief Fazlur Rehman Sunday said his role in politics had strengthened the religious ideologies in the country.
Talking to journalists at the 97th convocation of Jamiat Khairul Madaris here, he said it was not difficult to convince a politician to settle things and resolve controversies.
“It would not have been possible to fight on the Khatme Nabuwat (SAW) front if I had not joined politics. If action is not being taken, should we give up?” he asked.
Fazl said the JUIF had eight members in the National Assembly but despite being small in number, they did not give up their struggle.
He said their scholars had guided them to the path of politics of madrasas and they adhered to their (scholars’) advice.
“For the first time in the country’s history, all the scholars stood firm on the same position,” he said.
