Gunshots were fired during a clash between two groups in a Jirga in Quaidabad’s Goshwali street on Friday, leaving one person dead and seven others injured.
According to the Shah Latif Town Police, the Jirga was held to discuss a conflict between two groups in the Quaidabad area. However, firing started and one person died while seven people were injured. The casualties were taken to the Civil Hospital and Jinnah Hospital for immediate medical assistance.
After the incident, the police arrested several people and detained more than half a dozen others. Chippa officials said three casualites were transported to Jinnah while four injured people were taken to the Civil Hospital. Twenty-four-year-old Amar was shot in the hand, 22-year-old Wajahat was shot in the leg, while 22-year-old Sajid was shot in the back and brought to the Civil Hospital.
Among the four injured, 45-year-old Azam suffered four bullet wounds to his stomach, hand and leg, 21-year-old Asim was hit by a bullet in the leg, 18-year-old Azmat suffered a bullet to his hand, and 47-year-old Abrar received a bullet on his hand. The medical report is being provided to Shah Latif Town Police and the statements of the injured are being recorded in this regard, after which further legal action will be taken. It was reported that there was a fight between the two groups over a fight between children. The open use of weapons raised questions about the efficiency of District Malir police officers.
