This letter refers to the article ‘The dying art of writing’ (January 4, 2025) by Aimen Siddiqui. The answer to the writer’s concluding question: “Is it time to say goodbye to the art of writing?”, is a ‘no’, though a feeble one. I wanted to adopt writing as a profession but ended up doing it as a passion only due to the level of concentration, focus and effort required to write a creative piece, be it fiction or nonfiction. My inspirations were the many senior and established writers of that time. The feeling today, when I see AI generated content in the serious world of print media, is of despondency and departure. I still find hope that true constructive and creative writing is still alive and is here to stay, linguistically speaking.
