Govt pursuing policy for telecom facility in far flung areas

ISLAMABAD: The government is pursuing a comprehensive roadmap to ensure coverage of telecommunication and internet facilities in far-flung areas of the country.

According to Radio Pakistan quoting official sources, about twelve billion rupees have been allocated in the new budget for provision of telephone services in rural areas.

The ongoing broadband projects in Southern Telecom Region are expected to provide coverage to over fifty-six thousand new subscribers in unserved areas in the next fiscal year.

Furthermore, one hundred and twenty-five educational broadband centers and fifty-five community broadband centers are to be established under these projects with a subsidy of 482.5 million rupees.
