LAHORE: The Punjab Counterterrorism Department (CTD) on Monday killed seven terrorists of Fitna al-Khawarij during an operation near Makdarwal, Mianwali.

The CTD Sargodha has registered a case and launched a special operation to arrest the absconding terrorists. According to the CTD spokesperson, the law-enforcement agencies acted on a tip-off and raided the hideout of the terrorists who opened fire on them. The CTD personnel also retaliated, as a result of which seven terrorists were killed by their own accomplices, while eight terrorists managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness.

The CTD recovered explosives, seven Kalashnikovs, bullets and six hand grenades from the possession of the militants. The process of identifying them is going on and further investigations are on. A special search operation has been started to arrest the escaped.

The spokesperson said the CTD was diligently pursuing its goal of Safe Punjab and was committed to eradicating terrorism. He said that in case of any information related to terrorism, citizens should contact 0800-11111 the CTD helpline.
