Power cuts trigger protest in Battagram

BATTAGRAM: Residents here on Monday staged a protest against the prolonged electricity loadshedding in various parts of the remote district.The protesters blocked the main road against the severe power outages.Carrying banners and placards, the protesters were led by Saeed Ahmad of Jamaat-e-Islami.

Addressing the protesters, he said the people of Battagram were faced with prolonged power cuts that have disrupted routine life. Another local leader Ghulamullah Torkhel urged the authorities to resolve the issue of the power loadshedding immediately.

The in-charge of Kozabanda Police Station along with other officials, attempted to persuade the protesters to open the road. However, the talks failed as the protesters refused to talk to the officials.This prompted the police to register the first information report against the protesters for blocking the main road and causing disruption to public order.
