WhatsApp is introducing a new feature that allows users to add a pop of colour to their chats, breaking away from the traditional dark green theme, making it more personalised.

Meta's popular instant messaging app is set to roll out an update that will offer a selection of 20 different colours for users to customise their chat themes, WABetaInfo reported.

This new feature will be included in the WhatsApp for iOS 24.20.71 update and provide users with 22 unique themes and 20 vibrant colours to choose from, significantly expanding their customisation options.

Users may opt for a default chat theme, within the app settings, ensuring a consistent look across all chats.

Additionally, users can select different themes for specific chats, to differentiate between personal, work, and group chats. The app will automatically set a wallpaper based on the selected message colour, ensuring that the overall aesthetic of the chat aligns with the chosen theme.

However, users can also choose different wallpapers that they prefer or may find relevant to the context of the conversation, making two chats, that share the same theme, look distinct.

Selecting a theme for a specific chat will not affect how that conversation appears on the recipient's phone and will not impose any changes on their contacts.

This feature is currently available to a limited number of users through the App Store and TestFlight app, including those participating in the beta program.

The new feature is available to some iOS users who install the latest update of WhatsApp from the App Store, and it is rolling out to more people over the coming weeks.
