This year, the prestigious WOW Awards has made its debut in the Middle East.

The event brought together over 6,000 attendees including industry leaders, participants, exhibitors, and live artists - to honour outstanding achievements across multiple domains: Experiential Marketing, Experiential Celebrations, Experiential Tech, Hotel & Venue, Live Quotient and MICE - an acronym that stands for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions. In recent years, the terms ‘meetings industry’ and ‘events industry’ have been gaining popularity as alternatives for MICE.

The recently held awards were presented in a glittering ceremony. One of the evening’s highlights was the recognition of Pakistan’s very own powerhouse, Frieha Altaf, a globally renowned event planner and CEO of Catwalk Events, PR and Productions. Altaf was honoured with the prestigious ‘Pakistani Industry Icon Award’ for her incredible contributions to the industry over the past four decades. With a legacy of over 38 years, Catwalk remains a leader in event management, PR, and wedding planning services, continuing to elevate Pakistan’s profile on the global stage.

Additionally, the event also celebrated Faraz Manan, an ace designer known for his mastery in bridal couture and aesthetics, based in Dubai. Manan was awarded for ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Fashion Industry’. It is interesting to note that Faraz is the top choice of Bollywood stars including Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.

This grand event featured representation from Pakistan, with the illustrious Amina Sheikh and Faisal Kapadia as presenters of awards. Prominent showbiz personalities such as Kiran Malik, Tooba Siddiqui, and journalist Sadiq Saleem also graced the occasion, showcasing the immense talent of the country on an international stage.

This year’s event, themed ‘Learn and Lead,’ also comprised a dynamic lineup of interactive workshops, captivating case studies, and enlightening sessions aimed at inspiring and educating attendees. The WOW Garage offered workshops and sessions that pushed creative boundaries, while WOW Labs delved into technological advancements, such as event tech and AI, and their impact on business. The WOW Expo was a major highlight, featuring over 35 exhibitors from India, Pakistan and beyond, showcased some cutting-edge solutions and groundbreaking innovations.
