LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz sought a record of land owned by various departments while chairing a special meeting to review revenue targets for the first quarter.

According to a press release, she directed the authorities concerned to prepare a plan for the best use of government land.

The chief minister directed the authorities concerned to expand the scope of Punjab Revenue Authority to various districts of the province, besides empowering ADCD and Assistant Commissioner in its affairs.

She directed planning increase in financial resources of the province. She also directed the relevant authorities to compile authentic data of restaurants, bakeries and marriage halls across the province. She said, ”The collection of revenue will be increased without increasing taxes on the public.” She added, “Whatever is collected in public treasury will be spent on the people.”

Maryam fixed timeline for the creation of legal framework of Punjab Revenue Authority. She lamented, ”I want to do a lot for the people, but the financial resources are not that much.” She emphasised, ”Revenue collection targets should be fulfilled in any case.” She congratulated the departments that met their revenue targets.

Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information & Culture Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari, Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rahman and MPA Sania Ashiq attended the meeting.

Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary to CM, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Secretaries Irrigation, Finance, Mines & Minerals, Excise Taxation &

Narcotics Control and other relevant officers were also present.

Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz directed the authorities concerned to complete the construction work of the country’s 1st autism school in the public sector in one year as she laid foundation stone of the project. She also directed them to immediately start hiring of autism experts, and prepare a project in consultation with the experts.”

She said, ”Pakistan’s first autism school project is very close to my heart as a child with autism deserves compassion and love.”

She inspected the model of autism school, and was briefed on it by the relevant authorities.

Meanwhile, Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins called on PMLN President Nawaz Sharif in Lahore on Friday.

During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest.

The meeting stressed the need to expand cooperation between both the countries in trade, education, IT and agriculture sectors.

Speaking on the occasion, Nawaz Sharif said, Pakistan and Australia’s partnership is very important.

He said business-friendly environment was being provided in Pakistan to facilitate investment activities.

The Australian high commissioner said efforts were being made to further promote ties with Pakistan.
