A series of tragic incidents in Karachi on Friday resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including a child, due to drowning and other accidents.
Two children fell into a river while playing near the Hasan Nauman Colony area of Sohrab Goth, prompting police and Rescue 1122 volunteers to rush to the scene. Rescue workers reported that the search for the missing child was ongoing, utilising all available resources. Local residents noted that similar incidents had occurred in the past, leading to calls for preventive measures to ensure child safety near the water.
In a separate incident, emergency responders were alerted to a drowning in a water well located in the Malir Memon Goth area. After over an hour of rescue efforts, the body of a man, estimated to be between 55 and 60 years old, was recovered and taken to Jinnah Hospital. The deceased had not yet been identified.
Additionally, a woman named Feroza Bibi was successfully rescued from a 70-foot deep well near Khairul Amal Mosque in Nazimabad No 4 after local residents and emergency personnel were notified of her fall.
In a further series of incidents, two men died in unrelated circumstances. A traffic accident near Baloch Colony Bridge in Tipu Sultan claimed the life of 35-year-old Saeed Ahmed, whose body was transported to Jinnah Hospital. In another case, a 45-year-old man, Abdul Qadir, died after debris from an under-construction wall fell on him near Ziauddin Hospital in Musa Colony, his body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Moreover, police discovered the body of a 45-year-old unidentified man in a car showroom in Clifton Block 05, which was also sent to Jinnah Hospital. The identity and cause of death remain unknown. Another body, that of a woman, was found in a house near Go Pump Wali Gali in Surjani Town, and yet another, that of 45-year-old Tahir Iqbal, was recovered from a flat in Abdullah Center, Federal B Area. Initial assessments suggest natural causes for Iqbal's death. Authorities had taken the unidentified bodies to cold storage while investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding these incidents.
